The Mughals brought biryani to India in early 16th century when first Mughal Emperor Babur came to India. A regal dish, Mughal/Mughlai biryani is fit for a king and was probably eaten by many too! This makes the perfect one-dish meal for when you have company. Yes company, in the reign of third Mughal Emperor Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar biryani was specially cooked for his massive army. After whole days of fight they need the feast their belly so biryani was the first choice. Everything in one plate, it also help them to regain their strength quickly. Because it were cooked with lamb or chicken, streaked with saffron, and garnished with raisins and nuts :) :)

One thing need to be mentioning that Akbar’s first and beloved wife the great Mughal Princess and then its Empress Ruqaiya Sultan Begum was master of cooking Mughal/Mughlai biryani. But she sometimes used to cook, not every time, when she was asked to cook by her beloved husband :D :D
